A little insight into a common week of my life

So there are 7 days, 24 hours a day, in a week. Although I really wish I have more than 24 hours a day and more than 7 days a week, in reality, it's not possible. Unless perhaps someone invents a time machine so that I can do what Hermione did in Harry Potter, that is, go back in time again for a concurrent lecture.

If you are merely looking for talks on the market, you might want to skip this section.

This is a little post on a common week of my life now. It should be interesting for me to look back in time at this post 10 years down the road, that's if, blogger is still around. Perhaps one day, I should see my time allocation like how I see my investments; put them into an excel chart.

Most of the time, I sleep between 5 hours to 6 hours a night. Sometimes 4, sometimes 7, but that's not as frequent. So my time is structured around this. Do take note that I have a full time job as well.

The Weekdays
So from Mondays to Fridays, I will be at my job. That's 8am to 5.30pm. This engineering job of mine is great! There's a lot of freedom in the sense that I'm given the leeway to do whatever I want, as long as I complete the projects on time. Thus, on the lunchtimes, I've scheduled myself a series of exercises.

Lunchtimes on
Monday: Bench Press max 75kg
Tuesday: Military Press max 60kg
Wednesday: Treadmill jogging
Thursday: Chin ups training
Friday: Deadlifts max 140kg

Mondays to Fridays, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, I give tuition. Only Tuesday is at the tuition centre, the rest of the day, I rented a spare room from my gf at her place for conducting my own group tuition. Usually, I end a bit late as students really have a lot of questions to ask. After which 10pm is the time I spent talking to my gf, and then go home by midnight.

Midnight on weekdays is the time I analyse the market, look through the financial reports of some stocks I own or would like to own, look through some charts, and blog. I normally sleep between 1am to 2am, to wake at 7am the following weekday.

Saturdays
Saturdays, like today, begin with the morning quite free. That is, until the tuition centre I teach at find new students for a J1 Physics class. This is the day I teach the most tuition at the centre, from 1.30pm to 6.15pm. After which, dinner with my gf, and then the usual routine as weekdays.... tuition again from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and so on...

Sundays
Sundays are rather busy days. I start by sending my gf to her side job, giving piano lessons at Cristofori, before going for my own 1 to 1 home tuition just beside. Lunch with gf, then tuition again somewhere near. By 4pm, I will be at Hougang Gym working out on Squats (max 120kg), before finishing at 5pm and driving down to fetch my gf from her side job. I have another tuition at night again from 8pm to 10pm before calling it a day. The routine is again checking up on my investments and blogging at night.

It's a busy but fulfilling life to me.

Going on, this is what I plan for the year 2011. My home tuition on Sundays will be totally scraped. The mornings will be free for recreation. However, I might still have group tuition in the evenings. I can already envision that my year 2011 will be less busy than now, giving me more time to embark on other things in life.

  1. Hi JW,

You have a full life! I am most impressed. Personally, I am trying to sleep more these days. Target: Minimum 8 hours a night.

Latest post in my blog is on Saizen REIT and I thought of your comment on about how bullish I am. Check it out. ;)

  3. Hi JW,

    I am at work. :(

I am lazy by nature. KK says that I wanna be super idle! Spot on! Haha... Slacking is an important part of life. Without sufficient slacking, brilliant ideas would not be formed as we would be too tired. ;) Ok, that's just my excuse to slack!

  4. Hi AK71,

Slacking is to me at times, a want, a dream, when we are really busy. So you must really be damn busy.

I have tried before... I will feel uneasy if I slack too long... I just need to keep moving... The momentum has started its engine since my first year of uni... Stopping the momentum is a very tough thing... Realised this when I first stepped into the working world of only 8 to 6 jobs... with the night nothing much to do...
